Buxton Markets CIC is always looking for members of the community to help us promote the new market.
Buxton Market has been run by the community since 2016 after a bid by Buxton Town Team was accepted by HPBC and Buxton Markets CIC was created to ensure the longevity of the market in Buxton.
Buxton Market has always been an integral part of the Buxton community and now it is the community itself that runs the market. Buxton Market CIC is entirely run by volunteers but there are ways anyone can help support our YOUR market.
Shop on the market.
It sounds simple doesn’t it, but when you are making your shopping list maybe note those items that you could buy at Buxton Market instead of a chain store or out of town supermarket.
Traditional markets offer a connection with the traders, a connection with your heritage.
You will be supporting local traders, your local economy and you may well find a bargain! You can check out the traders who are coming to the market on Facebook the evening before market days.
Tell your friends and family about Buxton Market.
You would be surprised at how many people in Buxton do not know there is a market. If you are on Facebook, look out for our posts and maybe like and share them, or add a (hopefully supportive) comment. Some of our regular traders are active on Facebook, why not follow them. Word of mouth via social media can be very effective.

Consider volunteering for Buxton Markets CIC.
Could you spare a few hours a month to help us with our social media and PR? Maybe you have experience of applying for funding or have organisational skills you could offer. Are you a whiz on Canva? Do you have experience in HR?
Buxton Market is a community enterprise, and we really want more members of our community to be involved.
The ideal would be becoming a director of Buxton Markets CIC. ‘Director’ sounds a little daunting and onerous, but it really isn’t.
At present there are only four directors and some of those will need to retire soon. The only qualification for becoming a director is a commitment to the continuation of the market in Buxton and attending a monthly online meeting that usually lasts about an hour. There is a directors WhatsApp group so we can keep in touch and deal with any issues that arise. Beyond that you can choose what you could contribute and the time you can give.
If becoming a director is a little more than you feel you can take on you might consider becoming a Member / Volunteer. For instance, we have two member/volunteers who help us with our IT and payroll.
Please contact directors@buxtonmarkets.co.uk if you would like to discuss becoming a volunteer.
Can you help with maintenance of stalls and vehicles?
